About TahoeOutdoors.guide

The Lake Tahoe Basin in One Place

TahoeOutdoors.guide started as a simple idea: Lake Tahoe is one of the most extraordinary outdoor destinations on earth, and the information about it is scattered across dozens of agency websites, PDF brochures, and recreation apps. We built the Lake Tahoe Planner to fix that.

Everything in one place — live campsite availability from Recreation.gov and ReserveCalifornia, weather and fire weather warnings from the National Weather Service, lake level from the USGS gauge at Tahoe City, campfire rules from the USFS Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit, and snow depth from the NRCS SNOTEL network. All the data that used to require six browser tabs, in one dashboard that updates automatically.

A Note on Accuracy

Trail conditions, campsite availability, and fire weather change quickly. We cache data at appropriate intervals — campsite availability every 15 minutes, weather and fire weather warnings every 30 minutes, lake level every 6 hours. Always verify critical safety information directly with the USFS or relevant agency before heading into the backcountry.
