Frequently asked questions

What is included in the free tier?
Every map, all 17 activity guides, a page for each campground with fees, amenities and what is nearby, tonight's open-site count at campgrounds on Recreation.gov, and current weather, fire and lake conditions. There is no time limit and no card is needed.
What does Tahoe Visitor add?
Open sites night by night for the next 30 nights at every campground we track, so you can see which nights are free before you go to book.
How do campsite reminders work?
On Tahoe Local, open a campground page, choose your arrival date and number of nights, and set a reminder. We check Recreation.gov for a single site that is open for the whole stay and email you when one appears. Each reminder sends one email and then finishes.
Which campgrounds can you track?
The 7 Lake Tahoe campgrounds booked through Recreation.gov: Fallen Leaf Lake Campground, Nevada Beach Campground, William Kent Campground, Meeks Bay Resort & Campground, Zephyr Cove RV & Campground, Camp Richardson — RV Village, Kaspian Campground. The California state park campgrounds book through ReserveCalifornia, which has no feed we can read, and the first-come campgrounds have nothing to track.
How do I pay?
Online payment is not available yet. You can choose a paid tier now; your account stays on Free until payment opens.
