1. What We Collect
When you use TahoeOutdoors.guide, we may collect:
• Account information — name and email address when you create an account.
• Email signup — your email address when you sign up for email updates.
• Account — your email address, and the membership tier on your account. Your password is stored only as a scrambled (hashed) value; we never store or see the password itself.
• Profile — a display name and a profile photo, if you choose to add them. You can change or remove either on your account page.
• Favorites — the places you save with Add to Favorites, so you can find them again on your account page.
• Campsite reminders — the campground and the nights you ask us to watch, so we can email you when a site opens.
• Guided tour requests — your name, email address, phone number if you give one, and the dates, group size and notes you send, so we can reply about the tour.
• Events you send in — the event details, which are shown on the site once approved, and your name and email address, which are not shown and are used only to ask about the event.
• Trip data — the trip preferences and itineraries you save voluntarily.
• Usage data — pages visited, features used, and time spent, collected through standard server logs and Google Analytics.
• Device information — browser type, operating system, and IP address.
• Your location, only when you press Directions — your browser asks first. It is used in your browser to show how far away a place is, and passed to Google Maps or Apple Maps if you open directions there. We do not send it to our servers or keep it.
We do not collect precise location data, payment information, or any data from minors under 13.
